When I was a little girl, I believed in fairy tales... that fantasy of what life would be. White dress, a prince charming who would carry me away to a castle on a hill. I would lie in bed at night and close my eyes and had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close I could taste them, but one day the fairy tale disappeared. It's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because we all have that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day we will open our eyes and it will come true. Then one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. This life, with all of its complexities, may be the fairy tale after all, because the journey is the best part. It's Happily Ever After...right now.

Forever and Ever, Amen~

I attended a wedding in a mansion, overlooking a stunning view of Vail Valley replete with the yellow, red, and orange hues of fall in the Rockies.  The bride and groom spared no expense for the intimate gathering of 70 friends and family.  The flower girl was picture perfect, as she gingerly placed each rose petal on the walkway.

The couple shared vows that they had each written. Each ended the recitation by adding: I promise to never give up on us. And, I love you.  Such a simple, yet incredibly powerful statement.  With the divorce rate at 50/50, hearing this epilogue to their vows gave me hope. Maybe these two know that they have to make a choice.  They acknowledge that a day will come when there are no rainbows or unicorns. The wedding pictures long since put away.  No more fireworks, AND....he snores.

Just maybe  these two realize they might want to walk away some day. On that day, I hope they remember the simple promise they made. In a mansion. On a mountain.  One beautiful fall day~

With Faith & Hope of promises, ~Shugie
