When I was a little girl, I believed in fairy tales... that fantasy of what life would be. White dress, a prince charming who would carry me away to a castle on a hill. I would lie in bed at night and close my eyes and had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close I could taste them, but one day the fairy tale disappeared. It's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because we all have that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day we will open our eyes and it will come true. Then one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. This life, with all of its complexities, may be the fairy tale after all, because the journey is the best part. It's Happily Ever After...right now.

For Shula, the Little One

I received great news!  The kind of news that people always remember receiving.  The I-remember-exactly-where-I-was-when-I-found-out kind of news.  Though I was told verbally, this photo is the essence of my excitement:

I'm going to be a Shugie again!

Days move along, and life happens, and you get into a groove.  Then holy catfish it all changes in an instant.  And what a wonderful change!  I love Grandgirl very very much, and amazingly, there is room for more love.  More hugs, and more rocking, and more laughing, and more sweet baby lotion smell!  As good as life is; as blissssssssful as I feel; as content as I am.... what a wonderful thought it is, that some of the best days of my life haven't even happened yet!  My awesome family is going to be even awesomer.  Awesomnatious!  Awesomnificant! Awesomelicious (Too much- that one sounds icky).

Though Grandgirl thinks your name should be Shula (clearly, she made this up!), I'll call you Little One for now.  I love you already and I can't wait to meet you!

In Bliss & Grace, Shugie
