When I was a little girl, I believed in fairy tales... that fantasy of what life would be. White dress, a prince charming who would carry me away to a castle on a hill. I would lie in bed at night and close my eyes and had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close I could taste them, but one day the fairy tale disappeared. It's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because we all have that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day we will open our eyes and it will come true. Then one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. This life, with all of its complexities, may be the fairy tale after all, because the journey is the best part. It's Happily Ever After...right now.

Act Accordingly

I recently saw a question online asking, When you dream, do you dream BIG?  I wasn't sure how to answer that.  I guess I dream big... a grand vacation; a huge lottery; a mammoth closet :)  However, I doubt that is where the question was leading.

I have a bucket list of things I want to do before I die, and a bucket list of things I want to do this year.  Some of the things are big, like Ireland.  Some are small but important, like grandchildren.  I want a master's degree before I die.   I want to read 12 books this year.  Each item holds an importance to me in some way.

I was recently considering- does my bucket list contain things that are worth spending my time on earth to accomplish?  Rocking grandbabies- Definitely.  I'd spend considerable time and resources to make this happen.  Going to Ireland- Nice, but I wouldn't change my life to accomplish this.  A pair of Christan Louboutin's- even my shallow self knows that this isn't worth getting spun up over (though, if they fell out of heaven, I would not throw them back!).

At my young age of almost **cough cough**  I want to spend time on the things that matter most to me.  Life is short and I'm going to enjoy every second I can while I'm here!

ps- Red Louboutin's, Lord. Red.
